People of the Clermont Lounge
March 15th, 2012 @ 12:20 am

Opened in 1965, the infamous Clermont Lounge is located in the basement of the Clermont Motor Hotel at 789 Ponce De Leon Avenue, in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. The Clermont has survived multiple attempts at being closed by the Atlanta city government, and has established a nationwide reputation for its kitschy atmosphere and unusual dancers. A true dive bar with many unconventional dancers.

The above photographs, from top to bottom: Jessica, one of the dancers; Big Bill, security; Hetty, one of the dancers who has been there for over thirty years; Cynthia, one of the day dancers and; Haley, one of the bartenders.

A special thank you to everyone at the Clermont Lounge, and to Michael West and Caroline Petters for helping – in good spirit – with this photography project.
